ali here. Fedora rocks and theres no doubt about it, well in my community
i've been taking some serious steps. we have fedora installed in almost all
the computers of our department and i have requested the chairman that the
same should be done for the other departments of our university. plus wer

What do you expect his reply when someone from project says him ¨You're not
the first one to make these suggestions. Parroting them like a broken record
isn't going to change any of the above. Sorry.¨
Dont you think, his sentence is also as hard as his?

I am wondering, how Ubuntu make this third-party repo and packages
installation easier. If they can, why we can´t?

Here I have to remind you one thing, did he say to add close source packages
with Fedora? No he didn´t say it, he just wanted a easier solution of this.
What Fedora really needs to do is find a legal way to make all of these
things easier.

Custom SPIN for DF-Day+
by A. Mani
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Document Freedom Day is on the 25thof March.
Plenty of teams will be taking part in the event
(I am coordinating the Kolkata team IlugCalinfo )
Is it possible for somebody to make a custom spin including:
1. Mainly destop oriented packages (updated to stable Fedora10)
2. All Open Office stuff with good collection of templates, Dictonaries
3. Scribus, GIMP, Koffice, Gnumeric, Docbook, Lua, Quanta etc (latest stable)
4. TexLive and IDEs
5. Lots of Advocacy related documentation + Whitepapers, Technical
reports, Tutorials etc (for DF-Day): (I can help)
6. Documentation
More (please suggest)
(a non official spin can be considered for some locales ... for
rpmfusion things)
I think many teams would be able to make copies and do lot more.
Best

I meant this a little more general... activities and involvement can
change over time. It is impossible for him to know about everything
what is going on, without some 'administrative work'... that is what I
meant with the occasional social email :P.

I do agree a local leader would play an important role... But, every
region has a different level of maturity. Even for The Netherlands it
would be difficult for a local leader to know about activities of the
ambassadors in his region, without him having to do some
administrative work.
example; Currently, because of my day time job, it is difficult to
make my presence in the community noticeable (no internet connection
allowed). It doesn't mean I am not active, at home I try to compensate
as much time as possible. Sharing knowledge about the Emerging
Technologies, cobbler, koan, spacewalk is still spreading the
awareness of Fedora and it's community. When possible I am helping
people with packaging, installation support and education about how to
use a system from desktop to server use. How could a local leader know
without approaching me, or me keeping him up to date?
I can imagine a local leader would ask for an overview of performed
tasks... although I would doubt about it's true effectiveness. We
should find an effective way to keep the ambassadors in the loop. An
occasional social email? ;)

Sorry to distract people who don't need to hear this, but I will be
running a little late to scale and will be there around lunch. I am
excited to do some packaging. :)

Distributions of fedora10 DVDS
by rabi kumar
Few days before some students from wbut came to me and asking for LINUX DVDS.Today i managed to get it and distributed among all the students who were interested. One of faculty of WBUT Mr.Santanu Chaterjee was asking me for fedora stikers for laptop and i found it was very nice idea that we can design laptop stikers and we can put it in laptops in the place of Vista or Windows stikers.
