Hi folks,
Many of you probably know me as a campus ambassador at Northeastern University during my tenure as a Fedora Ambassador. During this time I have had a great time doing everything from attending the Red Hat Summit to working around campus to promote Fedora. To be honest, my favorite part of the "job" is when I help a frustrated new user resolve their issues and get to see them become happy FOSS advocates.
In order to focus on my internship, I am requesting an official leave of absence from January 1st, 2012 to April 31st, 2012. This is the duration of my internship. Since I won't be able to fulfill any of the normal duties of an ambassador during that time, I think it is best to officially step aside. My biggest disappointment is that I will miss FUDcon.
I look forward to continuing to serve in my role in the meantime.
Regards,
Greg Kerr

Greg, Since when do ambassadors need permission to take a "leave of absence"! It is nice of you to inform everyone, but you are not obliged to ask for permission, even though this is very thoughtful and polite of you. Your career must always come first, especially if its education!
Concentrate on your internship, and make the most of it, if possible, use that as your next stepping stone in your career. And maybe at work, you will advocate foss, to save the business money and aggravation. So, you see, you are always an ambassador of sorts.
Enjoy!
Regards,
Tristan
It's true, Tristan -- Greg doesn't really need to ask permission to take a leave of absence, but I think it was worded properly anyway as a courtesy.
Greg -- You'll have to forgive me a Captain Obvious moment when I say it's an honor and a privilege to work with someone as dedicated as you are. As your original mentor, I'm both proud and grateful to see the contributions you've made to the project.
Good luck with your internship, and we'll be here when you get back.
