Hi all!
I've made a small survey I request everyone to fill up. It has 3 questions, of which one asks your name :P
It is intended to collect data on what people have been doing and what difficulties they're facing while carrying out ambassador activities. Once we have the data, we will have a better chance of finding efficient solutions to these issues.
The survey:

The results (publicly viewable): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Al73WBsvtlGodFN3emtQdEhVMGdKTXN...

It would be good to use the Fedora Infrastructure if you intend to collect information from Fedora users. Not everyone necessarily uses other third party services.

I was just about to send the following:
As Fedora Project contributor, we are proud to use only Free Software in the whole process. From the marketing to the infra through the design.
I don't know if there is any alternatives to google doc, but there should be. Have you at least looked for one?
If there is no web hosted facilities, we should consider asking the infra to host some. I don't know UNG docs ("UGN is Not Google")[1] but looks great.
same for doodle, we all use this site, but there are free (I mean Open Source) alternatives, like dudle[2]
Do we have a wiki page where we can find all available tools for contributors?

hello ,
I understand what you are trying to say. However, requesting infra to set it all up and then conduct the survey would delay the survey quite a bit. As long as this survey is transparent, it is okay IMO. Please feel free to work on setting up a survey mechanism on fedora infra.
As a closing note, please start a separate thread for the discussion on such tools. I'd like this one to remain on track.

I personally like the survey like this - easy.
I understand that a survey beyond infra may affect documentation, except when we extract all results and put it back to a centralised place like FP wiki.
AFAIR, last FAmSCo also used external survey tools. How about infra deploys a survey service for Fedora?

The important point here is that it is under fedoraproject.org. Who knows what is being edited/modified by third party services, or whoever controls it? What is a point of a survey that is not owned by us, and the outcome of it is used to govern us?
I never asked for a survey. If people require feedback from Fedora users, I'd suggest that they use Fedora Infrastructure alone, rather than relying on third party services, and I'd be happy to participate in it. I'll stop here. Period.

"who knows what is being edited/modified by third party services, or whoever controls it" is just far fetched wishful thinking.
Don't all of us use gmail/yahoo/whatnot for our emails? How come no one runs around claiming third party services are sending out emails and *governing us*? Should we set up an email sever on fedora infra next, and a search engine?
What is a point of a survey that is not owned by us, and the outcome of it is used to govern us?
There is a HUGE *HUGE* _HUGE_ point.
I cannot stress it enough!
The point is the _data_ that the survey collects.
Honestly, I don't understand why you don't see it. It is under my account. I can assure you that *NO ONE* is tampering with the data. I hope you can take my word on that. If you cannot sleep in peace, I request each person who filled the survey form to check the spreadsheet!
It is my request to please concentrate on _*what the survey is about*_. If it offends you that much, please take steps so that future surveys can be held on fedora infra. For the time being, DO NOT undermine the *purpose* of the survey by bringing up orthogonal issues. I implore you to please let people concentrate on the survey alone.
With all due respect, I hope you do stop at that period. If the issue is that I'm using not using FOSS, I apologise. If the issue is you do not trust google, please don't fill the survey. You can email your responses to the list.

Please people, we are not taking any action without properly considering needed steps and/or consequences. This is why we have an entity like FAmSCo. I am really happy with this initiative.

The google docs form is less work than editing a wiki page. However, since it has been pointed out, I will make it a point to use a wiki page in the future.

I am really happy to see some of the feedback. Especially the call for help. Please, if you need... we at FAmSCo, and regional mentors are available. Just send a message and I am more than willing to help you.

Thank you Gerard. I hope to bring up the issues at the FAmSCo meetings.
