Hello,
I am interested in the development of Cockpit support for systemd timers as part of GSoC 2016. I am an undergraduate student pursuing Computer Science and Engineering in India. I would like propose an idea on modifying the timer support to Cockpit services.
So does the idea cover implementing the systemd timer stuff wireframed here?

I believe that abhishekmodi2011@gmail.com is also interested in implementing this. Dominik (CC'd) is looking at being a GSoC mentor and would offer suggestions on how to coordinate or choose non-overlapping tasks.
I want to create a D-BUS service with functions that provide crontab's different functionality. Would it be possible to call this D-BUS service functions from within cockpit like a client ?
Yes, it could. Although the new D-Bus service would need to be shipped in operating systems before it's useful to users. Do you have a plan for how to make that part happen.
It's worth noting for systemd timers such a DBus service already exists, and it's worth having similar behavior when possible.
Also I'm open to new (or other possible) ideas on how to implement it.
I have intermediate level familiarity with D-BUS and jQuery. I have developed an application where I had to create both the D-BUS service and the client using it.
Cheers,
