--- Comment #1 from René Genz liebundartig@freenet.de --- I guess the fix for the above mentioned problem will also fix my problem: installing Blender fails in a installed-from-scratch Fedora 28. This is because boost has been updated to 1.66 and 1.64 is not available anymore.
$ sudo dnf install blender Error: Problem: conflicting requests - nothing provides libboost_system.so.1.64.0()(64bit) needed by blender-1:2.79-6.fc28.x86_64
$ rpm -q boost boost-1.66.0-5.fc28.x86_64
