can't see any chinese characters at all, mozilla crashes all the time
by Lu Mudong
Could somebody please help? I am desperate.
I upgraded from RH9 to Fedora days ago, since then, I can't read any
chinese, mozilla crashes on chinese website or sometimes even by only typing
"w", "x" in the address field, when open a chinese file, nothing is readable
in it. I changed the locale to chinese, then when I restart X-window, all
the letters(including english letters) become small rectangles, I don't know
much about changing locale, it took me a while to find the configuation file
and delete it.
Could somebody please help? many many thanks.
Mudong

evolution problems (filters)
by Stan Bubrouski
Hey,
I've been having numerous problems with evolutions mail filters, and I
was wondering if anyone else has had any problems with them.
A couple of examples. I post to large mailing lists often, and so I get
a lot of returned mail sometimes. I setup a filter to put returned mail
in a folder named return mail. The filter is setup like this:
if any criteria are met:
Sender -> sounds like -> MAILER-DAEMON
Subject -> contains -> delivery failure
Subject -> contains -> undeliverable
Subject -> contains -> delivery status notification
Move to Folder -> Returned Mail
Seems simple enough right? It works like a charm except all mail from
Dave Jones (davej(a)redhat.com) ends up in Returned Mail. This despite
the fact the mail is coming from different mailing lists all of which
rules are above returned mail in the filters list. This is very strange
because I get hundreds of messages a day and his e-mails are the only
ones that do it. There is nothing remotely like MAILER-DAEMON in his
mail headers so this is odd.
Another problem is duplicating messages. For example, I subscribe to
the Linux Kernel Mailing list. I have two filters for it, one that just
moves all mail with the Mailing-List header linux-kernel to a
linux-kernel folder. I filter certain people to a folder called trusted
(for instance messages from Linus and Andrew so I can see when new test
kernels are released). Evolution thinks its funny, to often times not
put people's messages who should be going into trusted into linux-kernel
(the trusted rule is above linux-kernel in the filter list), and not
only this but sometime it copies the persons message into BOTH folders,
and I've checked and rechecked and even gone over my filters.xml with a
fine tooth comb, there are no logic errors in the filtering setup, so
these have to be evolution bugs, right?
I want to make sure these are bugs in evolution and not my own logic
before I put anything on Bugzilla. Any thoughts?

Hi Dan,
Could you also move the -mcpu override's in solenv/inc/ into the spec
file using a variable?
Thanks,

ext2/3 acl in development
by Farkas Levente
hi,
michaelkjohnson wrote in oct:

can we can wait an updated kernel package for FC1 or a development
package for FC2 in the near future?
thanks.

development access from up2date
by Gene C.
Since development (formally rawhide) seems to be moving along and I have a
system that I do not mind trashing (if necessary), I thought I would try and
access development from up2date. I edited /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources and
added:
yum development
http://download.fedora.redhat.com:/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/
(all on one line).
When I ran up2date, I selected only the development channel ... up2date
"hung". When I re-ran up2date from the command line, I get lots of traceback
when it goes to access/download the headers.info file.
Should this work? Is it a bug I should report?

kudzu won't update modprobe.conf
by lupus
kernel 2.6 uses /etc/modprobe.conf
kernel 2.4 uses /etc/modules.conf
I installed kernel 2.6-test9 next to my kernel 2.4.22 (fedora core 1),
but when I boot kernel 2.6 Kudzu won't edit modprobe.conf because
/etc/sysconfig/hwconf hasn't changed.
Isn't it possible to use /etc/sysconfig/hwconf for 2.4.22 and
/sysconf/hwconf26 for kernel2.6, then kudzu can correctly detect
hardware and configure modprobe.conf and modules.conf depending on
what kernel I boot?
After I removed hwconf and booted with kernel 2.6 he configured
modprobe.conf correctly. But still my bttv and audio don't work.
Witch package/programme normally modprobes them?

A very nice GUI. Much more suitable for the common man for managing
software.

SiI3x12A Fedora Core Install
by Aron Rubin
So I got this mondo hammer (athlon64) machine, but it has only a SATA
drive. Prior to procuring said machine, I made sure I could find some
sort of statement of support, some vague, for each component. Well poop,
the Fedora Core install process does not recognize the SATA controller,
which is a Silicon Image SiI 3x12. There does not seem to be a "legacy"
emulation option in the bios. The vendor only supplies the driver
compiled into a 2.4.18 binary distro and a promise for inclusion in 2.6.
After much searching I came across:
http://www.infowares.com/linux/
These drivers claim support for the SiI3x12A controller. Before I go and
try to use them, can someone give me some direction as to how to do so
with the install process. Any other *useful* info would be appreciated.
Aron
