I would third it. There is always a flood of 'good' ideas that come in
after the deadline. The issue is that you are setting a precedent for
the next FLOCK and the one after that. Yes this time there is good
reason to have a talk about XYZ containers. But next year when the
person comes in with a talk and the next maintainers have to say "no
you missed the deadline" they will be faced with "But last year..."

I haven't been following the submissions too closely, so apologies if this
is already a thing, but, if there isn't already a lightning talks session,
you can add one, and encourage late submitters to apply there? That would
also allow taking on-site submissions, and last minute additions too if you
have really interesting things coming in during the conference.
Yes, you'll need a moderator/MC day of, but your existing selection
committee could use it as overflow and help review in the future maybe?
