Hello guys! I'm Massimiliano from Ireland. I work as Senior Software Engineer in the Cloud Services team, but I would be interested to contribute to your projects.
My main experiences are with Java (15 years) and javascript/typescript (about 4 years), plus some experience with C/C++.
Minor experience in many other languages (go, assembler, perl, etc.)
Can you please give me some advice about some starting point and some 'good first issue' I could start working on?
Cheers, Massimiliano Ziccardi

Hi, welcome!

What are your particular areas of interest? One of the things I really would like to see is Home Assistant packaged up, containerized, and shipped as a first-class use case for Fedora IoT. I know Fabian and some others have been working on this and I'm not sure of the current state, but that might be one thing to start helping with.
What kind of hardware do you have? At a lower level, we've got perpetual difficulty making sure Raspberry Pi enablement stays current. If you've got low-level tinkering interest, taking that on would be amazing -- not sure if it's a "good first issue", though.

I believe this could be a good starting point! Can you point me to the current work so that I can give a look?

I can certainly buy a Raspberry Pi and give this a look too. Do we have some doc/jira issues about the current status? What would you advise me to have in addition to the "Raspberry Pi 3 Model B"?
Thank you, Massimiliano

Fabian Affolter is the person who I know has worked a lot on it. Fabian, you around? :) The last status update blog post I've found is https://fabian-affolter.ch/blog/fedora-iot-and-home-assistant/, which is getting to be from a while ago.

Not much
Let me know if we can help! If you can definitely commit, we can make sure you have the resources you need.

That's a good start, as is the newer Pi 4. And, although it's less relevant for home automation use cases, I expect we'll see significant user interest in the Pi 400 all-in-a-keyboard computer, so getting that working would be awesome.

Ordered! They said I will have it in 3 weeks...
While I wait I will try to give a look to the home-assistant!
Thanks, Massimiliano

Hmm, I've gotten into Home Assistant in recent months. I run it on a raspberry pi 4, using the home assistant os option. I bought another pi 4 recently and was trying to get fedora going on it, without success. I'm running some community-contributed build of centos stream on there right now. I want to run fedora iot on these!
