Fedora 24 Idea for "KDE Plasma Workspaces" group install
by Erik Beck
I would like to suggest that for Fedora 24, rsyslog be removed from the "KDE Plasma Workspaces" installation group. While a system logger is needed for any workspace, I don't think that having this package as part of the group is a good idea.
I installed Fedora 23 as a Gnome system. I have then overlaid Cinnamon and KDE onto it so that I can experiment with all of these options. When I went to install KDE Plasma Workspaces, it wanted to install rsyslog as part of the group. Problem is that I had syslog-ng installed, rsyslog conflicts with syslog-ng, and I very much prefer syslog-ng. So I had to figure out a way around the problem. Eventually I was able to install Plasma by picking out a few key packages and installing them with their dependencies.
This procedure of installing KDE would have been quite a bit easier if I didn't have to work around the rsyslog conflict. Hence my suggestion for dropping that from the installation group.
Thanks,
Erik

KMail bad feature: remembered email addresses
by Timothy Murphy
I normally give email addresses with name first, eg
Timothy Murphy <tim@...>.
But for some reason, KMail does not remember
email addresses in this form.
If I start "Timot..." it throws up several absurd suggestions,
but not the email address (with name) that I have used 100 times.
In fact the whole KMail/Kontact "recollection system"
strikes me as third-rate or worse.

KDE5: Filemanager C&P behavior
by Reindl Harald
select -> CTRL+X -> CTRL+V results in asking for a filename and then
places the paths there like below - well, that's primary pretty cool
(while it makes no sense for *cut* at all) but that should be *really*
placed into a conextmenu entry instead enforce CTRL+X/CTRL+C twice when
you really want to move/copy *files*

Kmail and KWallet not working together
by Armelius Cameron
Hello,
After my last upgrade, Kmail/Kontact and Kwallet are not working
together correctly.
Upon login, somehow I got prompted with a Kwallet Migration box asking
for my Kwallet password. Given the password, the box throw an Error
-3: probably not a Kwallet file (or something like that), and ask for
another password. After several tries I had to hit Cancel to get rid
of the box.
Then when I open Kontact, Kmail asks every password of my accounts
(presumably because it cannot obtain them). I tried 'editing' Sending
account and made sure I checked the box "Save password" to try to
re-save the password, but it still won't work (Kmail ask password
again if I close it and re-open and try to send email).
However, if I open manually KWallet Manager, I can see all of my Kmail
IMAP passwords there. The only application connected to the wallet is
however Kwalletmanager5.
Any suggestion on how to fix this ?
Thanks,
AC

qBittorrent random freezes
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I normally keep a qBittorrent session open on my desktop, but for the
past week or so I find it's been freezing, i.e. unresponsive to button
events. I have to kill and restart it. This doesn't seem to happen when
downloading a torrent (at least not so far) but at random quiet times.
An strace on the process shows:
$ strace -p 29850
strace: Process 29850 attached
futex(0x5632009da984, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 1, NULL^Cstrace: Process
29850 detached
whereas normally it would get a continuous series of polls and
read/write calls.
This is qbittorrent-3.3.1-2.fc23.x86_64, installed nearly a month ago
and working up until 6 days ago. The only change in the interim has
been daily system updates including kf5 and Plasma, so I suspect that's
where the problem might be.
I reported this to the qBittorrent bug page but have had no answers in
nearly a week, see https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/45

Any thoughts on how to debug this would be welcome.

/var/lib/systemd/coredump/*

Are drkonqi, kactivitymanage and klauncher supposed to be leaving core* files
here on each plasma session exit? I just updated F24 on host hpg33. Plasma
started with startx doesn't ever get done (no shell prompt), leaving on last
screen line
kdeinit5: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
ps -A at that point lists among other things kactivitymanage and kglobalaccel5.
