Also, the suspend option from the kickoff menu doesn't work anymore.
pm-suspend from commandline does though.
Anyone else seeing this?

commenting out the smooth-tasks section in
.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc and logging back in.
Kmail/Akregator 4.4.8 seems to work just fine.

Does anyone know if kdepim 4.5.80 still makes a complete copy of any
local maildirs? (Don't have the disk space to risk it if it still
does).
