For a point of reference, I had been running 2.6.32 kernels on an x86_64 machine without audio problems, but have since switched to F13 on that machine'and so don't know how the latest 2.6.32 kernels work.

fine here, with: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
Any details or bug reports for reference?

Does that produce anything worthwhile? Your bug report is very limited.

An output of alsa-info.sh usually provides more information about sound issues. BTW, I wonder if such updates could be asked if submitting bug report against sound packages ? (or a "sound issue" as sub-component for the kernel, that would worth it)

We have https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_sound_problems as a guide for debugging sound issues.

I have updated BR with the requested info. I see some others users have seen this bug also.

I always uninstall PulseAudio (and use Alsa) and both play back existing media OK but 2.6.32 messes up mencoder recordings - the video and the audio are choppy and out of sync - I think it is the audio that is the problem though. Going back to 2.6.31 and everything works fine again. I could provide more detail if anyone is interested . .

and sound is working for 32 now - thanks!

My mic no longer works how ever I am not sure how long ago this occurred. I tested in skype then in audacity. (I check on windows and the mic is fine.) I am using kernel 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE Pats
