I suspect that something run amok in a previous upgrade. FWIW package-cleanup does not report any duplicate or any problem with this system.
This meant that KDE would not start as the link to qdubs was busted as well. :-(
I will try to clean the system and see how it goes...

OK, after removing qt and qt-devel I have installed them again using yum. This works for qt but not for qt-devel.
Going to yum cache and using rpm directly to install the package it segfaults. Now I have not seen this in a while. :-)
I am starting to suspect that something here is terribly wrong and I will reinstall this machine.

You upgraded from the broken qt build, the one with /usr/lib/qt4/bin as a symlink. That build was untagged for a reason, and I wonder how you managed to get that build installed, because normally upgrading from a working version to the broken one errors out.
