Can anyone tell me how to check which version of the ieee80211 subsystem is installed in a kernel ? Is there a siimple command to find out for a running kernel ? What about another installed kernel but not the running kernel?
I am updating a machine which uses the ipw3945 driver - and with the new 2.6.17 kernel I don't know if this is still the old ieee80211 susbsystem or if this now includes 1.1.13 or 1.1.14 ?
I needieee80211 v 1.1.13 to run the ipw3845 driver.
Thanks Mike

Use modinfo, this is the output from my FC5 + Updates box:
[pgraner@meatwad ~]$ modinfo ieee80211 filename: /lib/modules/2.6.16-1.2133_FC5/kernel/net/ieee80211/ieee80211.ko version: git-1.1.7 description: 802.11 data/management/control stack author: Copyright (C) 2004-2005 Intel Corporation jketreno@linux.intel.com license: GPL vermagic: 2.6.16-1.2133_FC5 686 REGPARM 4KSTACKS gcc-4.1 depends: ieee80211_crypt srcversion: 3A6DA0096F0C88A9C66F594
