Hi all,
I was looking at the bug "Kernel panic when turning off screen backlight using laptop Fn key":
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=748210
The oops is caused by the null pointer dereference in the module ideapad-laptop.c and it affects, as the name says, almost all Lenovo Ideapad laptops/netbooks.
It is a regression in the kernel 3.1 and a patch is available here:
https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/10/19/485 http://www.mail-archive.com/platform-driver-x86@vger.kernel.org/msg02343.htm...
The Fedora's package kernel-3.1.0-7.fc16.src.rpm is not patched.
Would it be possible to include the patch in the final F16?
Regards
Vaclav M.

I'll look at including that soon. It's not in Linus' tree yet either, so I'll figure out why.

It's too late to include it in the final release without slipping and this isn't serious enough to cause the entire release to slip. It will go out as an update, probably a 0-day one as I expect 3.1.1 will be released by then anyway.
