Hello
Just tried rawhide-kde-x86_64-20070801 live dvd with my hp dv9237eu laptop. Starting X hangs the system. More details here http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8186 I have latest bios, F.38 now.
With F7 I have to boot using option pci=noacpi, now I get kernel panic. I'll attach picture of the panic.

I get a similar kernel panic with rawhide-20070801 and rawhide-kde-20070801 on a VirtualBox [1] virtual machine. Let me check on my laptop and report on what happens when I run on an actual machine rather than a virtual machine. Attached is a picture of

Try booting in 50-line mode (add " vga=ask" to the kernel command line by pressing <tab> and putting at the end of the line, then select 50 line mode.) We really need to see the rest of that message. And file a bugzilla if you can, otherwise just post the picture here.

Attached is the picture of the kernel panic with more information. This is for kde-live-20070801 run on a VirtualBox vm.

That's a completely different problem. Apparently VirtualBox doesn't implement the clflush instruction and just reports invalid operation.
