String freeze, and get.fp.o
by Paul W. Frields
Perhaps it's just because we had a setback on Insight, but I had a
very sympathetic ear when Sijis and Mairin told me that they are 99%
done with the get.fp.o redesign. I would love to see this project
progress with the next phase of rollout. (The front page would wait
until the next phase.) The current state of git is here, refreshed
hourly:
http://publictest1.fedoraproject.org
To do this, though, would reqeuire a string freeze exception. The
string freeze for websites started on 2010-04-21, so we're a couple
days late. I'm officially asking:
* L10n to tell us whether they would mind having these website changes
come into POT within the next 24-48 hours. Translations could be
accepted up until May 11, and then of course after May 19 when
things unfreeze we would accept more.
* Websites (and Infrastructure if they make this decision together) to
say whether that exception can be granted.

requesting string freeze breakage?
by Máirín Duffy
Hi,
There's a few minor changes I wanted to make to the text in firstboot. I
know it's late in the cycle but these changes are small and will have a
big impact on the Fedora install experience.
Do you know how I can request a string freeze breakage for the text?
The new text/design is here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Design/F13_Firstboot_Polish
The actual changed text is as follows:
'Final Steps
'You're almost there! There are a few more steps we'll walk you through
to get your new Fedora system ready to use. We will now guide you
through some basic configuration. Please click the 'Forward' button in
the lower right corner to get started.'
(the last sentence is identical to the current last sentence.)
So there are 3 changed sentences.
Any advice greatly appreciated,
~m

Translation bug fixed in setroubleshoot
by Igor Pires Soares
Hello all!
A bug regarding setroubleshoot translations [1] was recently fixed in
Fedora 13. This a good opportunity to recheck and test your translations
on setroubleshoot's graphical user interface.
Since this fix generated some new strings, I asked Daniel Walsh to
rebuild the package again before the final freeze, so you will have some
time to translate and test it. The fix will be backported to F12 and
available for RHEL6 as well.

Document translator credits
by Ruediger Landmann
Hi all;
As some of you are all too aware, our XML-to-PO-to-published-document
process means that the translators who work on one release of a doc do
not get credited until the next release.
Given how much time, effort, and care that translators put into our
massive documentation suite, this hardly seems fair!
I've therefore put together a page on the Fedora wiki where we can track
and acknowledge these contributions in a far more timely fashion:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_13_Documentation_Translations_-_Con...
I'm including a link to this page in any of our docs that maintains a
list of contributors (so far, it's in the Fedora 13 Virtualization Guide
and Fedora 13 User Guide, and it will be in the Installation Guide
shortly). The idea here is *not* to remove translators' names from the
books on which they've worked, but to give credit much sooner than would
otherwise be possible, while also making it easier to refresh the list
of contributors in the next release.
As things stand, each doc lead has had to trawl through the commit logs
to update these lists for each release. With this page on the wiki,
translators can help out too.
Translators:
If you have done any work on a Fedora 13 document, could you please
check to see that you're listed? And if you start work on another
document, could you please remember to add your name?
Writers:
When you notice a new translation come in for a document that you
maintain, could you please check the page and make sure that the
translator has remembered to add herself or himself to the list? You
will also need to double-check the list against the commit logs in six
months' time when you branch your document for Fedora 14 and import any
new translators for the book.
I know this is still a manual process, but hopefully, it provides
greater visibility and more timely recognition for the extremely
valuable work that the Fedora Localization Project does on docs.
Cheers
Ruediger

Final Release Notes POTs
by John J. McDonough
The final update for the Release Notes POT files will occur tomorrow.
This update will be delayed until approximately 2300Z to ensure that all
necessary updates to the source files have been made.
Once again, thanks so much for all your hard work.

Thank you Smooge!
There are a few strings that need updates but I've been working on
some of them, and testing as I go. Hopefully Sijis can make sure my
Genshi markup is all kosher.

Docs translation F13 useless parts
by Zoltan Hoppar
There are several useless parts in uploaded files in "Readme Burning ISOs |
F13", but this is not the only one. They are listed with zero strings in
transifex. Mostly these are useles, or false po's, and if i want to see
their content in most cases just drops on an empty page an '1.' and that's
it.
Somebody could help this clue?
