[FC3] How to get bluetooth to work?
by VB
I am running Fedora Core 3 on a Toshiba Portege M200
laptop with built-in bluetooth. I see bluetooth and
toshiba_acpi as loaded modules but when I try 'hcitool
dev', I do not see any devices.

I cannot get back to KDE
by Antonio Olivares
Dear folks,
I shutdown one of my computers and when I turned it
back on I get:
Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds. If you
have not logged out yourself, this could mean that
there is ome installation program or that you many be
out of diskspace. Try logging in with one of the
failsafe sessions to see if you can fix this problem.
Other than reinstalling everyting, is there a simpler
way to fix this problem.
Sorry to bother you again,
Antonio

KDE extragear
by Timothy Murphy
(1) Is it possible to install KDE extragear under Fedora?
If not, will it become possible under FC-4?
(I'm interested in kde-bluetooth.)
(2) Is extragear a separate package to extragear-[123],
or has the latter replaced the former?

amaroK Visualization Issue Solved
by C.Beamer
Hi All,
I've solved my issue with not having visualizations with amaroK under FC4.
I was getting very frustrated over this issue. I was told that I needed
libvisual-plugins and I did receive some help on this list stating that
they were soon to be installed in the Extras repository. However, once
I was able to get that and install it, the visualizations in amaroK
still didn't work. I actually went so far as to uninstall amaroK and
went to the amaroK site to download the tarball and see if I could get
things working that way. My only issue would have been that KDE apps
don't seem to like the default version of gcc that is installed with FC4
(although, I now know how to get around that, again thanks to someone on
this list :-) )
Anyway, on the amaroK site, I was pointed to this link:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/4/i386/
If you look through the list that displays when the link is followed,
you will note that there are 4 packages for amaroK -
amarok
amarok-akode
amarok-arts
amarok-visualizations
Once I installed all these packages, I now have visualizations - both
amaroK visualizations and the 2 under xmms. As I'm writing this, I'm
listening to a CD that I saved to my hard drive with amaroK and
everything seems to be working just great!

Colleen

Install problem
by Ugo Bellavance
Hi,
I tried installing FC4 and it terminates with an exception. Anaconda
tells me to copy that and submit a bug, but the error message is quite
long. I was wondering if there was a way in the install to paste the
error message (I could copy it) in a file so that I can send it
somewhere (via ftp, scp?). It was a graphical install and the error
message looked like a pythin backtrace.

ATI drivers

Hi,
I know the proccess has been covered to death in this list, but has anyone
taken the time to write a tutorial explaining how to install the ATI
drivers (the ones for Radeon and up) from the ATI website?

Re: Killing idle SSH sessions?
by Brandon Laing
John,
Could you go into a bit more detail about this? I'm talking about any
kind of remote login via SSH, be it from a Windows or Linux system. I'd
just like to find a way for SSH to kill the session after 15 minutes of
inactivity to make sure someone doesn't leave an open session up on
their screen logged into a critical system.
John Summerfied wrote:
Hey list,
I'm curious to know if there is a way to have SSH kill idle sessions
after a set time in Fedora 2 and 3. I've been looking around and
haven't really found any way of doing this. The closest settings
I've found are these:
I think bash provides that capability (but it applies whether you
connect via ssh or login at tty1).
