Across Lite for F12 32-bit, an i686 vs i386 issue?
by Patrick O'Callaghan
My name is Patrick and I'm a crossword puzzle addict.
The NYT publishes its puzzles in Across Lite format, and there's a
proprietary app (acrossl) which runs on Linux. Unfortunately it's
getting really old and is binary-only. It worked under F11 but now the
app gets a segfault on my netbook (though oddly it works fine on my
64-bit desktop, also on F12).
Since I'm on the road for 2 months I'm starting to get withdrawal
symptoms :-) F12 32-bit code is now compiled for the i686 and both the
app and the old compat libraries are i386 (not all of them have been
updated for F12). Could this be the problem?
I'm also willing to try other Across Lite apps, but I've never come
across a free one that was half-way decent.

Lotus Notes 8.5 on F12?
by Peter Hinse
Hi all,
anyone succeeded in running Lotus Notes 8.5 (or 8.5.1) on Fedora 12? The
RPM installs fine, however the preview pane or some preference dialogs
cannot be drawn. Copying some libgtk and libgdk libs to
/opt/ibm/lotus/notes fixes some problems, the GTK decorations are
missing then.

Peter

Re: How to install Fedora-12?

I pick a partition on the USB when the Anaconda Installer starts.
for F11 I did the d/l of iso and did a hard disk install to USB partition 3.
for F10 I used the DVD and did the install to USB partition 2.
I am thinking my success isn't helping you at all
and I have probably misinterpreted you,
here in particular:
>I was just wondering if there was a way of installing from my USB stick,
I don't know what you mean installing "from" your USB stick.
I was installing "to" my USB external disk

Assistance finding out what process is writing to the disk drive
by jnissley@nissley.org
I have a Fedora 11 server running 2.6.30.9-96.fc11.x86_64. I recently
noticed that my hard drive light is on constantly and was wondering how
I can determine what is accessing the hard disk so much. After boot the
hard disk is acting normally for a few minutes to a few hours and then
the hard drive light is lit up constantly.
I have tried ps -ef to see if there was anything running that I do not
know about and there is not. Is there any way for me to determine which
process is consistently using the hard disk?
Thanks
