Virtual Box
by Martín Marqués
I'm trying to do some virtualization testing and I wanted to see
Virtual Box that everybody is talking alot about. The thing is that I
can't find the virtualbox packages in the fedora repository. Does it
have some strange name?
And BTW, is there any good HowTo to get started with Virtual Box?

RPM security (a newbie question)
by "Stanisław T. Findeisen"
What does the process of installing new RPM package look like? There are
some commands that such package is allowed to execute, right?
What are RPMs allowed to do, and what is forbidden? Is there any control
layer at all in the package manager, or is the control (e.g., during
package install) simply transferred to RPM-package-provided script??
Also what's the difference between "Everything" and "Fedora" dirs in
Fedora package tree?
I wonder how easy it is to create a rootkit/trojan horse/whatever and
get it loaded on Fedora users' computers.
Thanks!

Fedora IRC Classroom open this weekend.
by Kevin Fenzi
Just thought I would remind everyone that we are going to be holding
some IRC Classes in the fedora classroom this weekend.
Classes are held in #fedora-classroom on irc.freenode.net.
Classes this weekend start at 10:00 UTC on both Saturday and Sunday.
See:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Classroom
for more details. We have some great looking classes lined up this time!
(We also still have open class slots for anyone who would like to sign
up to teach this weekend).
Also, we are always looking for teachers and suggestions for topics for
new classes. See the above wiki page to add a suggestion or just reply
to this email or mailing list thread.
Hope to see a bunch of you there!

"docbook-utils-pdf" versus "xmlto" for docbook -> PDF
by Robert P. J. Day
it's been a while since i've rendered docbook files into PDF, and i
always used a combination of xmlto and a FOP processor of some kind.
can someone in the know explain the differences in the approaches
between using xmlto, and using the docbook-utils-pdf package? are
these things now ready to go out of the box because, if memory serves,
they used to have some pretty rough edges.

Easy Fedora administration... why not?
by Valent Turkovic
Hi,
I listened to FLOSS Weekly episode 62 [1] and the topic was eBox -
please listen [3] to it if you are interested in this topic.
AFAIK eBox gives you a is web interface for easy configuration of
Ubuntu/Debian boxes, it is like Webmin on crack :) I would really love
to see something like this for Fedora based systems...
Also I don't see why they need to be based only on Debian/Ubuntu I
know that there are differences in RedHat and Debian based distros but
if they made all necessary work I guess that it would be simple to
implement the differences so that it also works on Fedora and RedHat
based systems...
So what you think about this project? Would this be beneficial to Fedora? Why?
Some more info about eBox:
What is eBox?
eBox is a server for the easy administration of corporate networks. It
covers a wide range of functionality from network gateway to
communication center or file management. It has been conceived and
developed with simplicity in mind, lowering the learning curve for new
network administrators and saving time for experienced professionals.
It helps optimizing time for system administrators by automating most
of the tasks.
Moreover, eBox includes a development framework that allows for the
easy adaptation to new unforeseen needs. eBox takes into account that
security depends more on user’s actions than on technology itself and
thus, its configuration is secure by default. The result is a platform
that boosts the productivity of system administrators while keeping a
high level of security in corporate networks.
