seeing audit messages to virtual consoles, sort of a workaround

I run the 4.11 kernels on F25. For the last couple of kernels I've compiled, they constantly write messages from auditd to the virtual consoles. Working away, and suddenly 10 lines of output appear and overwrite the console. The auditd libraries and binaries were also upgraded a couple times around the time that this started happening, so I'm not sure which of the two caused this, the kernel or auditd. I mention it here because the 4.11 kernel is a release kernel now, and will likely be coming to F25 at some point. If it does, you can try the below workaround. Add the following line to the end of /etc/audit/rules.d/audit.rules. -a never,exit -S all -F res=success This isn't a very good thing to do if you are running a server, because successful system calls can be useful for finding intrusions and problems. But I don't have any internet facing services, so I'm not really interested in these. I no longer have the messages appearing in the virtual consoles. Of course you can just comment out the -a task,never line, and there will be no rules, and thus no messages, because the -D erases them. Can't log into Google with 2-factor authentication using GNOME Online Accounts

Anybody else have this experience? I create a Google account in Online Accounts, get prompted for email address, then password. Then, on the pop-up that should prompt for the Authenticator code, I see an empty box. This is up-to-date Fedora 25, so gnome-online-accounts-3.22.5- 1.fc25.x86_64. Sometime earlier, I had successfully logged into Google on this machine, but my credentials had expired. I had the same experience trying to re-authenticate and deleting the account and trying to recreate it. Does anybody know of a fedora pkg for emergent neural network software?

Does anybody know of an rpm for emergent for fedora? The emergent site mentions an apt package for ubuntu/debian, but nothing for fedora. Site: https://grey.colorado.edu/emergent/index.php/Main_Page And, as an aside, does anybody have any faves for open source neural network software or libraries that run(s) well on fedora systems? I want to store two encrypted passwords for users in my people branch. Created below attribute smiler to "userPassword" attribute and added into a new object class. attributeTypes: ( userPassword2-oid NAME 'userPassword2' EQUALITY octetStringMatch SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40 X-ORIGIN 'User Defined' ) When add password for user "userPassword" value, it get stored in SSHA encrypted format. But the password attribute I defined "userPassword2" is in plain text. Please help me to fix this. Thankx

Printer address -

. Ihave a printer "Bus 005 Device 005: ID 04f9:0063 Brother Industries, Ltd" connected to my F-25 computer. I don't want to reset and change it's configuration. Is there any way to determine the printer's ip address so that I can view the existing configuration from my browser. Normally I would ask it to print its settings but it has a defective toner cartridge and I wont be able to do that until I receive a new one but I would like to see the config. now. Can't get surround sound on new Intel NUC

I have a new 7th-gen Intel NUC (NUC7i5BNB), hooked up to an audio receiver via HDMI. I have tried a bunch of different things, but I am only able to get stereo audio out of it. I can connect my notebook to the same HDMI and get surround just fine; when I select that output, the receiver sees a PCM bitstream, but it only ever sees stereo from the NUC. The Case of the Disappearing Scanner

I have a Brother DCP-7055W all-in-one laser printer and scanner, connected by Wifi to my LAN. The printer works perfectly, and the scanner worked at least up until a couple of weeks ago when I last used it. Now, it seems to have disappeared. Both simple-scan and scanimage report no scanners found. I've reinstalled the RPM package downloaded from brother.com. I've rebooted Fedora (you never know). I've also checked that the scanner itself is working (from a Windows laptop). What else can I try? poc

Finding out what por to open on the firewall

Hi. I guess this is more like a general Linux question. How can I find out on my Fedora 25 what port I have to open up for a program to work? I recently purchased a Multifunction Canon Printer TS5000 series. They use a propetary program for scanning images called ScangearMP . When I execute scangearmp2 it cannot find the printer on the wireless network. If I drop the firewall, then scangearmp2 indeed finds the printer. How can I find out what firewall ports scangear is trying to use? I tried netstat but the listing I saw was kind of large and did not immediately make sense to me.
