Networkmanager Wait Online Failing at Boot Time
by Stephen Morris
Hi,
My Nas Devices are failing to mount at boot time because the
Networkmanager Wait Online Service is failing at boot time. The
following is the output from systemctl that the boot process recommends
being run. Is there anything in that output that would indicate why the
service is failing even though the wifi adapter is indicating that it is
already active before the service fails? This issue happens every time I
boot.
bash-4.4$ systemctl status NetworkManager-wait-online.service

network is no more?
by Tom Horsley
Has fedora 29 eradicated the old 'network' service? I can't
seem to find it anywhere. Someone actually imagines that
NetworkManager functions correctly now?

F28: internet essentially disconnects after a short while
by Ranjan Maitra
Hi,
Recently, as of last week, I installed Fedora 28 on a new XPS 13. I went with Openbox window manager and no desktop environment because that is what I feel gives me the most bang for my buck. If I am behind the times, feel free to correct me but that is not the issue here.
Anyway, everything works great, from what I can tell except that my network appears to disconnect after a while (such as 30 minutes, say). NetworkManager (nm-applet) indicates that the connection is valid as is the VPN but nothing goes or comes. The solution is to click on the connection and essentially get a new connection.
I had read recently about the new Fedora feature of randomizing the MAC address and so I tried disabling that and using the following:
nmcli c modify e8c79829-1848-4563-8e44-466e14a3223d 802-11-wireless.cloned-mac-address permanent
nmcli c down e8c79829-1848-4563-8e44-466e14a3223d
nmcli c up e8c79829-1848-4563-8e44-466e14a3223d
Where the mac addresses are taken from the article.
I had hoped that my issue would be go away but no dice.
Any suggestions on what I could be trying? Feel free to ask questions in case additional information is needed.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

One VM works, one fails to start
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I have two VMs, both created under F28. One guest is Win-10, the other
an F28 headless server.
After upgrading to F29, the Win-10 guest works as before but the F28
guest won't start. The error I get is:

F29: Ufraw & ufraw-gimp
by Antonio M
I used to work with gimp+ufraw-gimp in F28. Now in F29, I can't use
them, Gimp has the option to use darktable or Rawtherapee as plugin
for raw files. Furthermore if I use Ufraw when I click on send to Gimp
I get an error opening Gimp, stating that file is not svg type. Any
idea??

[SOLVED] Fedora 29: dnf not work after update from 28
by Dario Lesca
If you get the follow error, you can try this solution:
$ sudo mv /var/lib/dnf/history /var/tmp/.
(from here) https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1596540#c52
Then rerun dnf.
Work for me.
Thanks

I updated my F28 and Thunderbird switched from Italian to English.
Just a note, I suppose that I have to re-install the Italian language

no hdmi audio on older tv
by Jiri Vanek
Hello!
I have f29 (kernel-4.18.12-300.fc29.aarch64 ) on machine, which is changing its place from time to
time - between two TVs. Old, and older:)
Both are connected by HDMI. Video output is fine, even acceleration is working, but sound work only
on newer of those two.
I don't know if this is regression, because this machine replaced 32b rapbery2 with kodi, which was
working without issues on both TVs (but was eaten by (not mine) dog)
I was following https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_sound_problems but had not found much:
- with removed pulseaudio, the aplay -vv segfaults
- I really on pulseaudio anyway, as I need to transfer sound to this machine over network
- the diff of alsa-info.sh's is really minimal [1], only

- when alsamixer is opened, then the default looks like working, and the job on old tv; but not do
nothing older tv.
- when alsamixer -c0 is opened, then the vc4-hdmi reports no control for selected device for
*both* tvs (which is same as f6 and selecting vc4-hdmi)
Does anybody have a clue what to try?
Thanx in advance form java world,
J.
