tail for a list of files
by bruce
Hey..
Trying to figure out how to do a single line cmd (it should be
possible right??) to do a tail -5 for a list of files???
I thought I could combine find with exec/xargs and tail to generate
the list of files/tail data.. But couldn't figure out the syntax..
thoughts??
find /foo -name "*dog.dat ... tail -5 << obviously not correct. but
what would work?
thanks..

Fedora 26 & 27 are unable to boot with normal graphic mode on this PC
with AMD/ATI RS740 [Radeon 2100] GPU
by Farhad Mohammadi Majd
Hello, I have an old PC from 2008 which has integrated graphics processors (IGP), I did install Fedora 26 few months ago and it had mentioned problem, I used "nomodeset" kernel parameter for boot during installation and local boot, but I didn't report the problem.
Today I did install Fedora 27 (Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-27-1.6) and same problem was exist, fortunately Fedora 27 is smarter and it added "nomodeset" kernel parameter to the GRUB configuration file for local boot, so there is no need to enter it manually to GRUB.
<CODE>
$ lspci | grep VGA
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RS740 [Radeon 2100]
<CODE>
Please guide me step-by-step to solve this problem, thank you.

gedit and unsaved files
by Gordon Ewasiuk
Howdy List,
I had a text document open in gedit when a power outage hit. This is a
file that I hadn't saved or named yet so it was still an "Untitled
Document 1" but was loaded with content.
Does gedit autosave open files anywhere?
I checked /tmp and /var/tmp but came up empty. I also grepped the
filesystem but turned up nothing.
(This isn't a complaint. It's my own fault for not saving the
document. Shame on me!)

my problem with brasero: brasero-3.12.2-2.fc27
by Joerg Lechner
Hi,
try to burn a 1.2GB mp4 film onto a DVD or as iso to a foulder. Result only about 200MB a burned (readable) to the DVD and the source file of 1.2GB is cut also to about 200MB (same size as shown on DVD), the size of the burned 1.2GB film varied in 2 trials from about 80MB to about 200MB. To check wether it's my system or not, I made a new installation of F27, same error. F26 does not show this error ( brasero-3.12.1-5.fc26 )
- brasero-3.12.2-2.fc27
- Name : kernel
Version : 4.15.4
Release : 300.fc27
Arch : x86_64
First Time I see this in Brasero
Kind regards

Firefox and Privacy Notice
by Alessio Ciregia
Hello.
I don't know if it has already been discussed, but in Firefox, in
about:preferences#privacy, "Allow Firefox to send technical and
interaction data to Mozilla" and "Allow Firefox to install and run
studies" are enabled by default.
Ok, I trust Mozilla, but these should be opt-in features, IMO.
I don't want to start a flame, but I ask if someone could kindly point
me where, in Fedora, this question has already been discussed.
Thanks,
A.

setting screen resolution at boot
by JD
Hi all,
on fc27:
how do I set the screen resolution to less than 1920X1080 ?
I would like to reduce it to something like 1280X1080
Is that "doable"? (Pardon my use of doable :) :)
I would like the DT (Mate) to respect that resolution and show
everything on desktop as if that is the HW resolution.
Thanx!!

cssh as non root - No protocol specified
by bruce
Hi.
Testing the cssh process.
I configured the /etc/clusters file to have
-testcluser foo(a)1.2.3.4
As user 'foo' I run -- cssh testuser
Process returns:
Connection to server failed -- (version 11.0)
No protocol specified
at /usr/bin/cssh line 2152
As a test, logged in as root ran the same thing.. a term displayed.
So, I've got something misconfigured on the local to run the gui process.
In the /etc/ssh/ssh_config I tested with both
ForwardX11 yes/no <<<<
with no difference
Looking through the 'net I se a number of possible issues, but as I
currently work through them, no change.
Thoughts/comments??
Thanks
