borgbackup on Fedora 30

Just a heads up for anyone using borg to do backup on F30, it seems to have a problem with one of its dependencies that causes the program to fail. Python3-msgpack is the issue. Doing a dnf downgrade to the F29 version (python3-msgpack-0.5.6-5.fc29.x86_64.rpm) looks to be a functional workaround for now.
Thanks.

OT mouse movement question
by Joe Feely
(I have just acquired a pen mouse, it is basically an optical mouse in the
shape of a pen.)
A one inch movement of the mouse on a surface, results in a 10 inch
movement of the cursor on the monitor (roughly). Is it possible to change
this so a one inch mouse movement would result in a two inch movement of
the cursor?

F28/Xfce update - lost monitor mirroring
by Robert Moskowitz
Just applied an update. It has been a few weeks since my last update,
holidays and such.
I use Xfce.
I lost mirroring my laptop on the external monitor. All I have is
laptop or external or extend to the right.
I have had this times past, and fiddling around with the display dialog
has been able to enable mirroring. Not this time.
The resolution on both is set to 1024x768. I have tried rebooting
multiple times and have gone back to the old kernel. But not joy in
Mudville.
I will be working on building a new system with F30, but meanwhile, I
want this system to work with mirroring.
Can anyone point me to something to try?
thanks

Hi All,
So far I have four successful 29 to 30 upgrades.
I have two 28 to 30's to go.
Anyone successfully get 28 to go to 30?
Anything special to consider?
Many thanks,

get -m32 flag to work in gcc?
by Tom Horsley
Just wondering what the minimal packages are I need
to install to be able to build 32 bit programs
in 64 bit fedora 30.
Is glibc-devel.i686 the only one, or are other
bits and pieces required?

Fedora 30 nvidia
by John Fawcett
Hi
Just before I launch into an upgrade to Fedora 30, has anyone had a
successful upgrade F29->F30 with nvidia drivers?
My graphics card is a bit old by now, latest nvidia driver that supports
it is the legacy release 390.116.
Thanks

A stop job is running for Entropy Gatherer Daemon? Really?
by Tom Horsley
I'm frequently rebooting my new fedora 30 install as
I test things, and on one reboot I got the entire
boot process held up by a stop job for rngd.service.
I'm rebooting for God's sake. Why do you need to stop
the reboot process to wait till you've gathered
enough entropy which will be thrown away immediately
on reboot?
Can a individual service file be configured to exit
immediately on reboot?

Wacom tablets on the XFCE desktop
by Sam Varshavchik
I'm tasked with finding a drawing tablet. From what I found, Wacom tablets
seem to have best support, but all references I found were for the
gnome-control-center's wacom settings.
What about XFCE. Are there any Wacom tablet models that do not require
configuring under Gnome, and will work on a stock XFCE desktop.

fedora 30 kdm busted?
by Tom Horsley
I tried switching from gdm to kdm and the kdm "login"
came up as nothing but an apparent password entry
field in the top left corner of the screen (at least
all it did was echo dots when I typed in it).
Switched to xdm, and that works much better.
