Fedora 30: vpnc connection problem
by Dario Lesca
Yesterday I have try to connect to my vpn server with vpnc client but I
have get an error.
I have open the Gnome NM configuration panel and I see that group
password is missing.
Then I have type it again and save the panel, but the connection do not
work anymore and if I open the panel after I try to connect the group
password is already empty.
See attached vpnc.txt log file of two connections.
First is work connection, and is like all previous (working) connection
Second is an broken connection, and it differ from other (working)
connection.
I have query the the system admin for some change, but nothing has
been changed into my account or server parameter ...
Someone can help me to debug why now the connection do not work
anymore?
Many thanks

Firmware?
by Beartooth
When 'dnf upgrade' gives me a list of several items labeled
'firmware', does that mean any or all of them are aimed at my specific
hardware? Or just at machines known to run Fedora?

Out of memory system lockup
by Robert Moskowitz
For the 2nd time my system locked up.
This time I managed to get into one of the character sessions, logged in
as root and top showed the kswapd was eating up lots of cpu. Then free
showed all real and swap memory used. That is 4Gb + 4GB.
Obviously with all my problems, I am having something running away with
my memory. Also see

USB UPS problem
by Eyal Lebedinsky
I am testing a new UPS (EATON 5E 1500iUSB) and am having a problem with the USB connection failing.
My old UPS (EATON Ellipse MAX 1500) works just fine with the latest f30.
Both devices identify as
ID 0463:ffff MGE UPS Systems UPS
To narrow the focus I booted recent live CDs on a PC that has no other USB devices attached
beyond the keyboard and /mouse.

The above repeats indefinitely. Same with the latest f30. Replacing the USB cable did not improve this.
I do not know if this is a fedora or a kernel problem, so I am starting here.
Maybe a USB module had a parameter change and I need to override it? Longer timeout? More retries?
TIA

XFCE - Network connections
by Max Pyziur
Greetings,
At one time using xfce you could access and adjust Network Connections
from the main menu:
Settings -> Network Connections
That functionality seems to have disappeared (or is it configurable so
that it can be unhidden?).
Also, when clicking on the Network App on the tool bar, it takes up to a
minute before some sort of a menu pops up.
Thoughts?

Iptables->Firewalld Upgrade: Really Necessary?
by Tim Evans
I've been running an CentOS 6.x firewall/NAT router, using iptables for
many years. My very simple iptables ruleset is based on the venerable
Oskar Andreasson tutorial
(https://www.frozentux.net/iptables-tutorial/iptables-tutorial.html).
I'm planning on upgrading that system to Fedora 30, and am wondering if
I really, really need to figure out how to port my iptables ruleset to
work with firewalld. Other than the need to be up to date (I am
originally from Kansas City), what're the advantages of firewalld?
Installing F30, adding iptables and my current ruleset, and disabling
firewalld looks very simple and quick. Why shouldn't I do it?
If necessary, I can post an anonymized copy of the iptables ruleset on
pastbin, but really looking for higher level advice.
Thanks.

KWorld ATSC 110 Tuner (PCIe) with Fedora 30 failing
by Al Farleigh
By chance does anyone else use a KWorld ATSC 110 pcie tv tuner card with
Fedora 30?
My card worked with 29 at some point in the near past, but now no longer
works with 30.
Using kaffeine as the player/recorder, I get one in twenty correct
startups, the rest blank screen. Same with cli dvb software.
Can anyone else confirm?
Thank You.

gnome frozen
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
Since I upgraded to fc30, if I do not use the PC for a while
the screen turns to lock (no screensaver is used).
Is this time is long, I may not be able to log in.
The screen remains frozen after I provide the password.
The only way to get access to a graphics mode is to run
kill -9 -1
I though that it may be due to a mounted filesystem.
But it is not the case.
It may be due to Nextcloud, but I do not know how to unmount
by a command like.
However, I cannot really make a correlation.
How can I debug?
Thank
