Can anyone shed any light on the disappearance of rpm.liva.org?
Its been close to a week since I was last able to access it. I can't ping it, even the google links to it are unresponsive.
After some "user errors", the rpm.livna.org system has been unreachable for 36h now. Someone has to physically get to the data center and reboot it. It should be done in a few hours. 'Til then, please use a mirror. The list of mirrors is in the livna.repo file we provide (attached to the mail). We apologize for the problems it's causing.

Hi,
thanks Dams, but for me, it didn´t fix the Problem. With Your repo I get the message: "Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: livna failure: repodata/repomd.xml from livna: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try. Error: failure: repodata/repomd.xml from livna: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try" as before

You must change the file to use a different mirror, e.g. change
baseurl=http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/$releasever/$basearch/RPMS.lvn #baseurl=http://livna.cat.pdx.edu/fedora/$releasever/$basearch/RPMS.lvn

(Or uncomment one of the other baseurl lines)

You can use something like this:
[livna] name=Livna for Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch - Base baseurl= http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/$releasever/$basearch/RPMS.lvn http://livna.cat.pdx.edu/fedora/$releasever/$basearch/RPMS.lvn http://wftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/linux/livna/fedora/$releasever/$basearch/RPMS... http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/rpm.livna.org/fedora/$releaseve... failovermethod=priority enabled=1 gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-livna
With this "failovermethod=priority" yum will first try the server listed at the top and skip to the next one if it can reach it (and so forth).

You need to find out what chip you are using according to this web site and build the driver:
http://www.scyld.com/ethercard_drivers.html
I have a problem chip on one my computers and I use a network card that is compatible with the tulip driver that I purchased off ebay for $5.

OK - thanks; I wasn't aware of that trick. One more question:
The "mirrorlist=" spec apparently refers to a URL that has a list of URLs that are "baseurl's" - is that correct?
If so, why doesn't livna publish a mirrorlist URL?
Thanks, Jay

There is a mirrorlist. Unfortunately it is hosted at http://rpm.livna.org/mirrorlist. :(

Correct.

See earlier in this thread in the mail from dams; you'll find
mirrorlist=http://rpm.livna.org/mirrorlist
there. But as you might notice, this currently does not work, too, because rpm.livna.org is (still) down.
I prefer to hard-code my mirrors with a fall-back (like livna.repo sample I send out earlier). I know which mirror is reliable and near to me -- and if it's down it skips to the next.
There is also a yum plugin that automatically finds a fast mirror -- but the plugin can't know if that mirror is fully up2date.
