What to do with start.fp.o?
by Sijis Aviles
Hi all,
I wanted to start a discussion on what is the goal/purpose for
start.fedoraproject.org. There has been some push on redesigning and
freshening up its 'look and feel' which some of that work has been
completed. However, the problem is we need to answer what is the purpose of
start.fp.o?. Without answering this question, we can't redesign it without
having a target audience in mind.
I think that this site can be a very visible, since that's one of the two
sites that load upon launching FF for the first time. Currently I feel that
it lacks a purpose and its sorta out there with no target in mind. My
current view is to do something like a '1 page release notes' or 'New things
in Fedora X' type thing, something very simple and only 1 page. The other
idea is to just drop the site completely and/or use fp.o.
Here is a link to a few unorganized ideas about the redesign [1]. Any
ideas/suggestion/thoughts?
Thanks,
Sijis

Both link are working for me.
Could it be your internet connection? (proxy,
ISP..)

Hi, please avoid top posting.
Bottom posting is in use in Fedora Project
mailing lists.
I think that the Beta3 is not yet out, we are in
beta2 process.

In this page, the koji link is working for me...
Could you be more precise?

Hi Kevin.
If you browse the
"http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/ARM",
you can see
the link to the "Fedora 13 Beta 3 release for ARM
(latest)" and when you click
it, appear an email with the beta 3 announcement,
the related tgz file and the
repo directory that is not working at this time.
Thanks.
Josep.

Hi Kevin.
Sorry if I am heavy, but I noticed that on
fedora-arm page on the link to the
Beta 3, the link
(http://arm.koji.fedoraproject.org/mash/beta/f13-arm-2011-05-10/f13-arm/ar...)
does not work. Do not know if it's a specific
problem or is an error that has
not updated the content of the page.
Thanks.
Josep.

Hi, thank you for reporting this,
but as written on this page, the beta1 is
obsolete and the new page is

Then, you should follow this one.

Remove Language "Schwyzertütsch"
by Roman Spirgi
Hi Fedora Website Team,
I recently joined the German language translation team. When visiting
www.fedoraproject.org I am automatically redirected to the Swiss German
version called "Schwyzerdütsch" due to I am Swiss, but actually there
does not exist a translated version in Swiss German yet.
What is more in the German part of Switzerland there isn't any
standardized orthography and there are many different dialects as well.
So it would be even difficult to agree on a unique Swiss German
version.
The official written language in the German part of Switzerland is
"normal" German.
So I suggest to remove the Swiss German language and redirect the Swiss
German users to the German site by default. That would make more sense.
A "Swiss-German" version could be a "fun-thing", but I think we do not have the
ressources anyway (yet).
Cheers, Roman
