Prepaid Czech SIM?
by Jon Stanley
Sort of similar to
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/flock-planning/2013-July/000225...
but relevant to this year's location :)
Are there providers of voice/text/data prepaid SIM's? It seems so, but
my Czech is non-existent so I couldn't make heads or tails of the
provider sites or figure out how much it costs (data is separate?
That's what I'd mostly be using).
I have an LTE Nexus 5 FWIW, but I'm obviously certain that other
attendees have other devices (including the dreaded iPhone! :D)

PS - I bought my flight (not requesting sponsorship). It cost $1,666.
I've been injured every time I've traveled for Fedora in recent
memory, including canceling my Flock trip last year. Why does that
price make me feel something is going to go horribly wrong??? :)

Social events: The Pub
by Jaroslav Reznik
Hi guys,
I got an offer from The Pub.
The idea what Miro told me was it's going to be an option for Tuesday,
for 100 persons.
Cold and hot buffet offer is for 26100 CZK (1305 USD) but the minimal
consumption is 40000 CZK (they have to close the pub for us). We were
thinking about really minimalistic party with some refreshment but it
does not make sense if we have to spend that amount of money.

Mobile applications
by Jaroslav Reznik
Hey,
as a few folks suggested, we should have an offline mobile application
for Flock, I talked to the team responsible for Devconf app.
Ludek will work on Android application, the first version should be
available soon. Jozef already prepared Jolla version and I already
almost finished BB10 version. So I expect the first version should
land to markets, harbours and worlds by the end of this month.
If you're interested to support other platforms, data are available
at http://pcmlich.fit.vutbr.cz/flock/data.json and Android app is
web based (with offline content), so it should be easy to port to
other platforms...
For any feature request, let me know! Badge? :)

Social Events: Boat Option
by Jiri Eischmann
Hi,
I got a response from a company that operates several boats on the
Vltava river.
They offer two boats:
1) the capacity is 270 ppl in summer
rent is $500 per hour
Photo galleries: http://www.parniky-praha.eu/fotogalerie/cz2/
http://www.parniky-praha.eu/fotogalerie/cz/
2) the capacity is 300 pl in summer
rent is $625 per hour
Photo galleries:

I think we should rent the boat for at least 3 hours (8-11pm), maybe 4
(8pm-12am).
They can also provide hot and cold buffet and some entertainment
(Carribean rum tasting, tasting of 100 kinds of chocolate, bartender
show, pirate show, casino, magicians,...).
To get a price for buffet we would need to have a detailed idea what we
want. I suggest that we consider if the rent is reasonable and if after
paying the rent we have enough money to get sufficient buffet and if so
we'll pick what we can afford. I can then forward it to our facility
department where they have a lot of experience with such things and can
negotiate good buffet options within the budget limits.

Can people get to that room without you? You might want to meet people at the assigned room, then lead them over to the printer lab if you need to badge in.

Flock Planning WhenIsGood
by Jaroslav Reznik
Hi guys,
as promised, I've created WhenIsGood for sync meetings where we are
and to bring some more transparency into the Flock planning. As always,
I expect it's going to be hard to find a good time, but let's try.
Flock is in two months, so try to vote asap.

Thanks

Guides for Visitors
by Jiri Eischmann
Hi,
a colleague of mine sent me this cool guide to Prague:
http://www.use-it.travel/cities/map/2013_prague/
It's CC-BY-SA, hence free to use. I think it would be great as a
handout. What do you think?
At FUDCon APAC/GNOME.Asia, they used the Guidebook app:
https://guidebook.com/
It had all the necessary info: offline maps, hotel info, schedule,
transport info, venue,... I found it very useful. I downloaded a whole
guide for the conference and didn't have to care about anything else and
always had the info with me even when offline.

Flock subsidies
by Ruth Suehle
If you have requested a travel subsidy for Flock:
- *And you are a speaker*, you will almost certainly receive funding. I
only say "almost" on the chance that something dramatically expensive
happens in the next five minutes to prevent it. We have more than $50,000
in subsidy requests, so I'm hoping that speakers who work for Red Hat will
talk to their managers about their own travel budgets. All you need to do
is find a roommate book your hotel room. We will be contacting you about
flights.
- *And you are not a speaker*, I'm sorry, but like last year, we will not
be able to fund your travel. Flock is one of very few conferences that
funds any travel at all, and we give priority to those whose talks have
been accepted.
-----------------------------------------------
*LOOKING FOR A ROOMMATE?*
If you're subsidized, you must have a roommate. But anyone else is of
course welcome to team up to save money. List your name here to find a
roommate:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Flock:Roommates
It also helps to contact people already on the list and not just wait for
someone to reach out to you.
