Online translation tool?
by Dimitris Glezos
I don't remember if I brought this up in the past, but some people have
suggested to add a tool to our translation infrastructure for doing
translations online. Some translators might prefer it, so we could have
that too (as long as it integrates with our existing workflow).
Benefits: more people working on the same translation, lower barrier to
entry, easier to handle big files, tools have workflow embedded (reviews
etc).
To the folks that are interested in working on our l10n toolchain,
here's a small task: Interested in investigating this a bit more? :)
Some Qs that we'd need answered: What tools are out there (eg. Pootle)?
How do they interface with the VCS and what are the options for
authentication? What are their requirements in terms of software and
infrastructure?

Request for Elvis CVS maintainers: po files renaming and ACLs
by Miloš Komarčević
Dear Elvis CVS maintainers,
We'd like to request all sr(a)Latn.po files on i18n.redhat.com be
renamed to sr(a)latin.po and related ACLs updated.
Please let me know if submitting bug requests for renaming in each
module is better than this bulk approach, but we'd still need ACLs
changed by you. I've already requested the essential modules to be
renamed but not all have responded yet.
Thanks,
Miloš

FYI for any outstanding pirut translations
by Jeremy Katz
FYI -- I'm planning to move pirut to be hosted under
git.fedoraproject.org rather than on elvis tomorrow. At that point,
translation commits will need to go through transifex rather than to
elvis. So if you have outstanding changes, it's probably good to get
them in before the switchover just to avoid any problems. Or if you
think this is an awful idea, let me know that also :-)
I'll send another mail tomorrow after the actual switch has occurred.

[Bug 318311] New: pirut cs.po breaks pirut, pup, and puplet under cs_CZ.UTF-8 locale
by Red Hat Bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug report.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=318311
Summary: pirut cs.po breaks pirut, pup, and puplet under
cs_CZ.UTF-8 locale
Product: Fedora Localization
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: low
Priority: low
Component: Other language
AssignedTo: dimitris(a)glezos.com
ReportedBy: mcepl(a)redhat.com
QAContact: aalam(a)redhat.com
CC: fedora-trans-list(a)redhat.com
Description of problem:
When starting any of {pup, puplet, pirut} it breaks with the error indicating
broken Plural-Forms. Which is correct, because apparently the string got broken
somehow and it reads
"Plural-Forms: nplurals=3; plural=(n%10==1 && n%100!=11 ? 0 : n%10>=2 && n%"
When fixing to the form prescribed for the Czech language in gettext(info):
"Plural-Forms: nplurals=3;"
" plural=n%100/10==1 ? 2 : n%10==1 ? 0 : (n+9)%10>3 ? 2 : 1;\n"
everything works fine. Patch is attached.

I've noticed more sr@Latn related files appearing in docs-common. I
feel these are now starting to introduce noise, especially since there
has been a change in glibc to sr@latin and us trying to rename it in
various software modules. For the Docs project I still feel that
instead of glibc/POSIX tags we should maybe be thinking about RFC 4646
ones (i.e. sr-Latn or some such) used by DocBook and XML. Until our
team gets familiar with the Docs toolchain and build process and tests
these out, I do feel that completely removing sr@Latn related files is
the best course of action at this point in order to avoid further
confusion.
Thanks,
Miloš

Need to add new error messages for system-config-users
by Nils Philippsen
Hi all,
I need to add some error messages to system-config-users in order to fix
this bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=303971
The issue is that certain (corner-case) invalid values for the home
directory of a user aren't checked against (yet). I would find it
perfectly acceptable if these new strings aren't translated in time for
F8, but without these checks the tool could hang on invalid input.
Thanks,
Nils

Hi
I have finally updated this chapter, almost copy and paste from Join
page, pardon me for being lazy :P
I hope that this now gives newbies nice and clear steps to become
translator.
Could you someone please checkout and give a proofreading?
The guide is located at docs/translation-quick-start-guide/en_US/.
Mustafa,
Feel free to make it prettier, applying your idea into it.
Paul,
Thank you so much for your time helping me out of tag issues!!

Transifex update -- added s-c-printer
by Dimitris Glezos
Hi all.
I've rolled out an update for Transifex, which adds support for
system-config-printer (branch 0.7.74.x, available in F8). Looking at its
stats, many languages could do a small update:
http://translate.fedoraproject.org/module/system-config-printer#0.7.74.x
Some new features in Transifex in the past 4 days:
* Added choice to skip diff preview (useful for large diffsets)
* Increased the form usability (fieldset boxes)
* Added manual module update/pull (save
CPU/network/responsiveness)
* Fixed CVS synced patching
* Fixed support for non-default branches
* Enforced secure http.
I feel it's close to a release, which means an RPM and move to
translate.fpo/submit/. Yay. :)
