memtest86+ seems to do nothing.
by home user
Good morning,
When booting up, I select the grub menu entry
"Fedora Memtest memtest86+-5.31".
The screen blanks, the cursor goes to the upper left corner of the display, and blinks.
That's it.
I waited about 10 minutes. Cursor still blinking in the same place. Nothing else ever showed up.
I rebooted.
How do I get memtest86+ working properly?
Bill.

/etc/hosts question
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Fedora 37
bind-9.18.12-1.fc37.x86_64
I am running a caching DNS server on my computer.
I have the /etc/named.conf set to
# the following forwarders is Family Friendly Open
# DNS (no porn sites):
forwarders { 208.67.222.123; 208.67.220.123; };
Problem. Open DNS is specifically blocking
tor.bravesoftware.com, screwing up my
Brave Browser Private Windows with TOR.
The workaround is to temporarily switch to google
as my forwarder, and let Brave Browser download
the required Tor daemon, then switch back.
So, next time I need a new daemon, I thought of
just hard coding tor.bravesoftware.com into
/etc/hosts, but I do not have such a critter
in my system
Q1. that on purpose? Did Fedroa drop /etc/hosts?
Q2. If I created my own hosts, would it be read first
or after named?
Q3. Is there a way to hard code tor.bravesoftware.com
into named?
Many thanks,
-T

openvpn3 on F37
by Greg Woods
First let me say that I am aware that openvpn3 is not an official Fedora
package; one must obtain it from a COPR repo. Therefore I could not file a
bug against it in Fedora and in fact I don't know how I COULD file an
official bug report, so I am just hoping that someone here has it working
and could help.
I have had openvpn3 working since F35, including on a laptop that I
originally installed openvpn3 on and it has been upgraded to F36 and now
F37, and openvpn3 is working fine.
However, on my new laptop with a fresh install of F37, I cannot get
openvpn3 to work. The config manager seems to be OK, but the session
manager is totally broken. First I import my config, and then:
[greg@ivanova ~]$ openvpn3 config-import --config /local/etc/OVPN.ovpn
Configuration imported. Configuration path:
/net/openvpn/v3/configuration/f75863b0x38dcx4ea5xa36ex35936d9cc4df

Any of the session commands result in the same error, after a noticeable
delay.
Anybody else seen this or have openvpn3 working on a fresh install of F37?
Thanks,

firewalld blocking bugzilla
by Sbob
All;
I just installed Bugzilla on a Fedora 37 server
If I stop the firewall with the below command then I can connect to
bugzilla via pointing a browser from another machine to
http://IPADDR/bugzilla
# systemctl stop firewalld
However once I start firewalld then bugzilla is blocked
I have run these commands:
# firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=80/udp
# firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=http
# firewall-cmd --reload
But I still cannot connect via http unless I stop firewalld
Thanks in advance

Best app for graphing services?
by Alex
Hi,
I've been using munin to graph performance of services like mariadb and
apache, but looking for something different or better. I thought cacti
might be that program, but it's not really designed to graph at the
individual application level.
Is there something different you're all using these days that might be
worth considering?
munin is okay, but I never felt like it was very accurate, in addition to
requiring lots of regular maintenance to make sure the scripts are working
properly.
Thanks,
Alex

Docker containers and Cockpit
by Sergio Belkin
Hi,
I'm wondering if Cockpit can handle Docker containers in Fedora 37. Can
anyone confirm if this is possible or not, and if so, give me some tips on
how to do it? I see a section for podman containers but not for docker ones.
Thanks in advance!

gthumb crash on startup and bugzilla reporting
by Max Pyziur
Greetings,
I occasionally forget to shutdown gthumb before shutting down my pc.
On startup of the PC, I see a message indicating that gthumb crashed and
asking whether or not I want to report the bug.
(This is more of a nuisance; I can always start gthumb, and it works very
well.)
I click yes; the process runs, downloads debug packages, etc. When it is
ready to report, send in the information, I get the following message:
Backtrace is generated and saved, 145368 bytes
--- Running analyze_BodhiUpdates ---
Looking for similar problems in bugzilla
fatal: RPC failed at server. The API key you specified is invalid. Please
check that you typed it correctly.
abrt-action-find-bodhi-update [ERROR] Search for duplicate bugs failed:
None
('analyze_BodhiUpdates' exited with 2)
#######
So, I would like to complete this process; I have bugzilla credentials; do
I apply them somewhere in this report? Or do I have to acquire other
credentials for this API?
Thank you,
Max PYziur
